Surviving the post-war chaos of 1521, young Beretta stowed away on a Vespanola Navy ship and enlisted through Admiral Sido's recommendation. However, a fire during a mission left her with severe trauma, forcing her discharge as she could no longer fire a gun. Reborn as a mercenary, she adopted a 'blind firing' style to avoid the sight of flames. Her ability to complete missions in any condition eventually caught the eye of Kalbath.
